The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) has received their first Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT). South Korea is the seventh operator of the A330 MRTT out of a total of twelve nations that have ordered the aircraft.
The ROKAF will be using the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines on their A330 MRTT. With the Airbus Refuelling Boom System (ARBS), the A330 MRTT will allow the ROKAF to refuel fighter aircraft to extend their range.
The A330 MRTT cabin also offers flexibility for the operator to use in a wide variety of situations. Configurations include carrying up to 380 passengers, medevac missions, or freight operations.
Airbus developed the A330 MRTT from the A330-200 commercial airliner. Each aircraft begins life as a standard A330-200 from the Toulouse, France assembly line before going to the Airbus Military Conversion Centre located in Getafe, Spain.
