Chicago — A United Airlines flight aborted takeoff from Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) Monday afternoon after a suspected blown tire. United Airlines flight UA306 was scheduled to depart to Fort Myers Airport (RSW) in Florida when at 2:14pm it aborted takeoff from runway 10L. Emergency crews reported to the Boeing 737-900ER series aircraft, registration N63890, but no immediate emergency action had to be taken.
Passengers and their bags were unloaded on the runway to be taken back to the terminal where United is setting up a replacement aircraft to get everyone on their way.
Officials have since reported that a tire issue was to blame. This is supported by what a passenger on board experienced. United Airlines replied stating that a replacement aircraft was being arranged:
We are working with airport teams in O'Hare for a new aircraft. Agents will provide departure updates as soon as possible. ^SV
