UPS Airlines announced an order for 14 Boeing 747-8 Freighter aircraft today as well as an option for 14 more of the aircraft.
The 747-8 Freighter is the most efficient freight aircraft in the world, providing lower operating costs. Featuring a nose door, the aircraft has 16% more cargo volume than the 747-400F, providing attractive economics. The 747-8F also reduces noise footprint by 30% around airports, a major benefit with increasingly restrictive noise regulations at major airports.
These aircraft are a strategic investment for increased capacity for UPS customers around the globe. The 747-8 will [also] allow UPS to upsize our network in both new and existing markets.
– Brendan Canavan, UPS Airlines President
The 747-8 fleet includes 109 passenger and freighter variants operating around the world, providing the highest dispatch reliability and utilization of any four-engine aircraft.
