Airbus a320neo First Delivery Delayed

The delivery of the first Airbus a320neo, the new version of the popular single aisle aircraft which offers more efficient engines and Sharklet wingtip devices to lower operating costs and emissions, has been delayed to early 2016. The first delivery to Lufthansa was originally scheduled for the end of 2015, but an issue with the documentation for the engines has caused this slight setback. Pratt & Whitney, which produces these new engines, has said that they are working with both Airbus and Lufthansa to resolve the documentation issues.

This may come as a relief to Boeing as their 737Max remains on schedule. They won’t be delivering till late 2017, but unlike with the lateness of the 787 Dreamliner, the efficient version of the 737 is on schedule and even rolled out with the first airframe early. The 737Max will be using engines made by CFM International, a joint venture of GE and Safran.
