Boeing 787 Dreamliner Reaches Major Milestone

The Boeing Dreamliner program has passed a major milestone, 100 million passengers flown. The more precise number announced by Boeing was that over 109 million passengers have now flown on a Dreamliner flight. This is from the about 450 787s delivered to customers around the world.  The entire fleet has also now flown a total of 1.3 billion revenue miles.

A total of 1161 orders have been made so far which at the current point leaves over 700 Dreamliners left to be made built and delivered. Boeing is currently building 12 787s a month over two plants: the main Boeing Commercial plant in Everett, Washington and at its second plant in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner variants currently in operation are the 787-8 and the longer 787-9. The final version of the Dreamliner, the 787-10, will be 18 feet longer than the already longer 787-9 and is scheduled to enter commercial service around 2018-2019. The 787-10 will be built exclusively in the Charleston, South Carolina plant.
