Not too long ago, Facebook introduces a new open-source project called Surround360.

With instructions written in black and white style inspired by IKEA, for about $30,000 in parts, you can build yourself a camera with 14 wide angle cameras horizontally, one fisheye camera on top, and two on the bottom for the ultimate coverage.

Facebook has been diving into the world of 360 media and working hard making the ability for the common person to produce such media easier and easier, including support of 360 photos that can be taken from a smartphone. There is even a dedicated group on Facebook about 360 media.
