Air Canada Crash

An Air Canada flight crashed and skidded off the runway at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada. The Airbus a320 was carrying 133 passengers and five crew members form Toronto. All walked out of the plane safely and  23 were taken to the hospital for minor injuries; 18 of whom have been since released.

Peter Spurway, a spokesman for the airport, said the plane “took a very hard landing and skidded off the runway”, CBC News reported. Heavy snow was reported in the area at the time of the accident, at approximately 12:43 a.m. local time (11:43 p.m. ET).

The airport also lost power after the hard landing. Officials have not connected the two incidents, but passengers believe that the plane hit power cables on its way down.
